Introducing Hand Talker

As a survivor of sexual abuse by multiple clergy members while attending a Denver boarding school, JD recently introduced his 2024 debut YA novel ‘Hand Talker’ at the annual International SNAP Convention in Houston, TX (SNAP stands for ‘Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests’). Upon explaining that the novel was meant to be an adventure story for younger readers featuring HT as a positive literary role model, it was apparently well received because a number of attendees purchased personal copies and asked JD to sign them.

JD further explained that his involvement in 3 different legal cases against the Roman Catholic Church and having a Native American main character in the novel were the reasons he chose ‘Johnny Doeskin’ as a pen name. In the courts, sexual abuse victims are commonly referred to as Jane Doe or John Doe for privacy purposes.
